Originally from London, and having already studied at the prestigious Central Saint Martins while working, designer Martha Ellen gave up a job in advertising to enrol at fashion school in Indonesia at ESMOD Jakarta.
Following her graduation Ellen worked with established Indonesian designers including Ali Charisma and Jeffry Tan before launching her very own collection. With unique pieces created from personally sourced handmade fabrics from Indonesia, Ellen works with local weavers to produce the handwoven Tenun Ikat. Launching her SS15 collection quietly in London last month, her muse Hannah Al Rashid - the daughter of the ambassador of Indonesia to the UK - was among guests who were introduced to Ellen and her eponymous brand which is set to appeal to 'women with busy lives, be they bankers, actresses, diplomats or mothers, who are travellers, independent thinkers and have a story to tell, but most of all appreciate quality and cherish something unique'.
